Davao retabulation expected to be completed tonight

The retabulation of votes in Davao is expected to be finished tonight, as the canvassers are now working on the last 20 percent of the returns.

The retabulation was ordered due to a discrepancy in the tally for one of the senatorial candidates. The Davao board of canvassers has discovered the probable cause of the error, according to the TV report from GMA Network's 24 Oras.

The adding machines require the user to press a button after tallying the votes for a candidate. It's possible that someone forgot to push the button, which is why the votes were mistakenly carried over to the next candidate, according to the TV report.
